Kessler Peak Trail

Another 10k peak in Big Cottonwood Canyon, this one seemed doable. Then Winter showed up. I expected 4cm based on the forecast but it was more like 4 inches of wet sticky snow.

It wreaked havoc on my trail crampons and transformed them into slippery snowball shoes. My outer layers were wet thru and though I was still warm I worried how that would hold up once I was exposed to the wind on the ascent up the North ridge.

At about 9200 feet I decided to play it safe and head back. Hope I get another opportunity to check this one off this year!
